Who are the biggest employers in West Hollywood?
Who are the biggest employers in West Hollywood? The City put together a list of “principal employers” as of 2014. They include government entities, retailers, media/marketing companies, restaurants/clubs, and hotels. They have anywhere from 45 to roughly 700 employees here. The list isn’t exhaustive, but it gives a sense of who some of the big employers are.
The biggest employer on the list is Metro. They have a bus garage and over 700 employees here, including drivers and mechanics. Also in the list’s top five are Target (retail), IAC/CityGrid Media (an internet media company), the House of Blues (a now-closed music club), and the City itself (with 216 employees in 2014).
The chart below shows the list. You can see how many employees each organization has here by hovering over or touching each bar.
How many people work everywhere else?
Together, these organizations employ less than 15% of the people who work in West Hollywood. Another 10%-plus work at home. That means 75% of workers, over 20,000 people, work elsewhere in the city.
This article was revised on February 11, 2016, to clarify that the list isn’t exhaustive and “biggest” means biggest on the list.
